Choose the right Tradesman

Well with 2009 behind us the 1 thing i can remember from it is that tradesmen were available at much lower prices. That trend will continue into 2010 but beware not all tradesmen are up to the job they offer and stone floors while coming down in cost can still be spoilt by poor installations!! I find that most tilers can set out and fit a stone floor and the client happily pays the agreed cost only to find that within a month they are unhappy with there floor, grout marks on tiles, poor or no sealer used.

I am now finding that a lot of these tilers are also offering a stone restoration service as part of there package!! well im sorry guys if its fitted correctly in the first place and properly maintained by the homeowner then you shouldn't need the service of a stone restoration company for around 12 months to 2 years!!

With that in mind,
Choose the correct stone for the job (price is not an indication of quality) Consider what the rooms purpose is & that your choice of Natural Stone fits this purpose!

Ask around amongst family & friends if they have had a Natural Stone Floor fitted, was it what they expected! Did the tiler meet there expectations, would they recommend them!If so ask to see some jobs they have done and check these out!

Don't settle on the cheapest quote unless you have seen the quality of the work, ask your local tile shop for ball park fitting prices!

When you have selected your tiler agree a price and also agree a schedule for payment. Keep a portion of the agreed price back until you are fully assured that the floor is completed to your satisfaction. If something goes wrong you can use this final payment to either have the tiler carry out the required remedial work or use it to have a floor restoration company do it.

Be assured stone does work! as long as you plan out your floor before you ever pay over any money then it can be win win for everyone involved.
